Normal whistles produce sound by emitting
if from the the sound hole
(the location where the airstream is split
by the blowing edge).
However, a lot of sound is also emitted from
the open finger holes.
For that reason, the volume and tone quality
when you play the bell
note (all finger holes covered) is noticeably
different from the
volume and tone quality the whistle makes
when you play note with
some of the finger holes uncovered.
To solve this problem, the Model EX whistle
has three additional
holes on the lower portion of the whistle,
and this allows the
whistle to produce a very full sound compared
to the bell note of
regular whistles. This also allows the scale
played by the Model EX
whistle to be unusually smooth.
As an additional benefit you can play an
additional note (low C) by
covering the topmost of these additional
holes with your pinky. You
can rotate bottom section to allow for a
comfortable reach of the
pinky to the C finger hole. The additional
section can also be
completely removed for cleaning or storage.
Soprano Whistle (Model DP-EX-E) $98-
The DP-EX-E has all functions of the DP-EX.
Additionally, this can be used as if
a normal whistle. by the extra foot joint.
